2022 Gamay Noir 750ml bottle

Our second Gamay release, from the Witters Vineyard in Camino, CA. Grown at 3300 feet, this vineyard sits on the edge of reliability - spring frost is always a danger at this elevation - but when things go well, they go very well indeed. That's where the magic is... 2022 was a double frost year, perfectly timed to cause maximum fruit loss in most of our vineyards. The Gamay here really took it on the chin; the vineyard yielded only 1.5 tons over 7 acres. While disappointing, the resulting wine shows amazing and unprecedented concentration and structure. Yet the wine's beauty shines, too, with lovely cherry fruit, flashes of high-altitude herbs and minerality, with a perfect acidity balancing it all out. 92 cases made. 11.9% alcohol.
