I feel this vineyard and wine embodies a little of what made our Home Vineyard so special. Farmed on stony clay soil, this wine was picked all together from a single parcel and co-fermented in open top fermenters, whole cluster. 67% Tannat and 33% Grenache. Because of the low yield/concentration, we gave the must very gentle punchdowns over a cool ten day ferment.

  • I feel this vineyard and wine embodies a little of what made our Home Vineyard so special. Pressed into small, thin-stave neutral oak for aging. Bottled in August of 2022, and bottle aged until now. A deep purple color in the glass. Hints of soil, wet stone and wildflowers on the nose. Closed at first – this wine needs air. Deep flavors of stone, tar, some cherry in there, candle wax, garrique. Its tannins are remarkably subdued, but present, plenty of balancing acidity, very pure on the finish. Screams out for food. And air - decanting would be recommended, or just take your time with this one in your glass. Tannat in the Sierra Foothills is quite unique – much less aggressive than its french counterparts from Madiran. Our abundant sunshine and cool evenings help to tame this varieties tannins and sometime aggressive acidity. It is a great partner to Grenache. 60 cases made. 12.3% abv.
